The main Canadian tax dates in 2027, which cover the 2026 tax year, are the RRSP deadline on March 1, 2027, the April 30 filing and payment deadline for most people, June 15 for the self-employed to file (with any balance still due April 30), and instalments on March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15. A date that lands on a weekend or holiday usually moves to the next business day.
Short answer: The RRSP deadline is March 1, 2027, most people file by April 30, and the self-employed file by June 15, with any balance still due April 30.
What are the key tax dates in 2027?
The table lists each 2027 date with its weekday, so you can see where a weekend shift applies. The CRA’s page on due dates and payment dates for individuals currently shows the dates for the 2025 tax year (March 2, 2026, April 30, 2026 and June 15, 2026); the 2027 dates below apply the same rules to the 2027 calendar, so confirm with the CRA before you rely on one.
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| Jan 2027 | New year limits take effect. The new TFSA room applies once it is announced |
| Mar 1, 2027 (Monday) | RRSP contribution deadline for the 2026 tax year, and the usual T4 and T5 slip deadline (Feb 28 is a Sunday) |
| Mar 15, 2027 (Monday) | First instalment for people who pay by instalments |
| Apr 30, 2027 (Friday) | Filing deadline for most people, and the deadline to pay any balance owing |
| Jun 15, 2027 (Tuesday) | Filing deadline for self-employed people and their spouses, but any tax owing is still due Apr 30. Also the second instalment |
| Sep 15, 2027 (Wednesday) | Third instalment |
| Dec 15, 2027 (Wednesday) | Fourth instalment |
| Dec 31, 2027 | Last day for most 2027 deductions and credits, such as donations and medical expenses claimed on the 2027 return |
Which tax dates do people miss most?
- The Apr 30 payment. The Jun 15 date for the self-employed is a filing date only.
- The RRSP deadline. It falls 60 days into the year, so it is Mar 1 in 2027, not Feb 28.
- Instalments. Someone who owed a lot two years in a row can end up on the schedule without noticing. The tax instalments calculator works out what to pay.
What about GST/HST and payroll dates?
GST/HST and payroll remittance dates depend on your reporting period and on the schedule the CRA gave you, so they are not in the table. Use the payroll remittance calculator to check the amounts, and the sales tax guide for how often businesses file.
Where can you see only your own dates?
Try My tax year to pick your situation. Compare numbers in the 2026 vs 2027 tax numbers, check what the RRSP calculator says about a contribution before the March deadline, and see the current tax calendar.
