Payroll and Salary Calculators for Canada

Canada’s payroll and salary hub has 20 free calculators that turn a gross salary into the money that reaches your bank account, for every province and territory and the 2026 tax year. They cover income tax, CPP or QPP and EI, plus overtime, bonuses, vacation and holiday pay, severance and job offer comparisons.

Why is a pay stub so much smaller than the salary on the offer letter? Income tax takes a share, so do Canada Pension Plan (CPP) or Quebec Pension Plan (QPP) contributions and Employment Insurance (EI), and some provinces add a payroll charge of their own. The tools below show the gap line by line.

Which payroll calculator fits your question?

How much of my salary do I keep after tax?

In Canada, take-home pay is gross pay minus federal and provincial income tax, CPP or QPP and EI. The take-home pay calculator does that sum for a salary in your province, by year, month and pay period. Employers and bookkeepers tend to open the payroll deductions calculator first, and the CRA payroll page explains how employers calculate and remit those deductions.

Paid by the hour? The hourly to salary tool turns a wage into weekly and yearly pay. Weighing a move? The where are taxes lowest in Canada calculator ranks every province and territory for the pay you enter. The take-home pay preview for next year states its assumptions for numbers not yet published. A family that hires a caregiver is an employer too, so try the nanny payroll calculator.

What is a raise, a bonus or a new job really worth?

The net to gross calculator works backwards from the take-home amount you want to the salary you would have to ask for. The salary increase calculator shows how much of a raise reaches your account. A bonus is taxed on top of your salary and often loses a bigger share than regular pay, as the bonus tax calculator and the sales commission calculator show.

With two offers on the table, the job offer comparison calculator lines them up after tax, with bonus, benefits, paid days off and commute. If your employer matches pension savings, the employer RRSP and DPSP match calculator shows the free money you leave unclaimed by contributing less than the match. Contractors can turn a day rate into the equal employee salary with the contractor rate to salary calculator, and the reduced hours pay calculator prices a four-day week in net pay.

What do I get paid for overtime, holidays, vacation and notice?

Each province and territory sets its own employment standards. The minimum wage calculator lists the current rate for each jurisdiction, and the overtime pay calculator applies your local threshold and multiplier. For time off, see the vacation pay and public holiday pay calculators, and the stat holiday work pay calculator if you are deciding whether to work the day or stay home.

After a dismissal, the severance and termination pay calculator estimates the statutory minimum for your province. That minimum is a floor, and a court might award more.

Every tool here uses 2026 rates. Treat the results as estimates for planning, since your employer’s payroll system has the last word on each cheque.

Frequently asked questions

How do I work out take-home pay in Canada?

Take gross pay and subtract federal and provincial income tax, CPP or QPP, EI and any provincial premiums. Whatever is left is your net pay.

Why doesn't my cheque match the calculator?

Pension plans, union dues, benefit premiums and the credits you claimed on your TD1 form all move the deduction. The tools use standard assumptions, so expect a small gap.

Do these calculators handle Quebec?

Yes. Quebec has its own income tax, QPP, QPIP and a lower EI rate, and the tools apply them once you pick the province.

Which rates are used?

The 2026 federal and provincial tables. If a rate changes during the year, the data is updated and the page says so.

Is a bonus taxed at a higher rate in Canada?

A bonus is added to your income for the year and taxed at your marginal rate, but employers often withhold more tax up front, so the cheque looks smaller. Any over-withholding comes back when you file. The bonus tax calculator shows the extra tax and CPP on a bonus.

What does a raise add to my take-home pay?

Only part of it. The extra money is taxed at your highest rate, and CPP or QPP and EI also take a share while you are under their yearly limits. The salary increase calculator shows the amount you keep in your province.
