On a $75,000 salary in Ontario you would keep about $56,887 in 2027 if the 2026 tax brackets stay where they are, which is $38 less than in 2026, because EI and CPP take a little more. If the brackets rise 2%, you would keep about $57,071. Put your own pay and province in the boxes to see your version.
What is a 2027 preview, and what is it not?
It is a first look at 2027 using the numbers we have so far. Some are official and some are not published yet, and the table below marks which is which. Once the CRA posts the rest, the preview will be replaced with the real thing.
Which 2027 numbers are used?
| Item | 2026 | 2027 in this preview | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| EI premium rate outside Quebec | 1.63% | 1.64% | Official |
| EI maximum insurable earnings | $68,900 | $70,800 | Official |
| Maximum EI premium | $1,123.07 | $1,161.12 | Official |
| CPP rates | 5.95% and 4% | 5.95% and 4% | Set in law |
| CPP earnings ceilings | $74,600 and $85,000 | $76,700 and $87,400 | Official |
| Maximum CPP contributions | $4,230.45 and $416.00 | $4,355.40 and $428.00 | Worked out from the official ceilings and the rates in law, because the CRA has not posted them yet |
| Federal brackets and the other provincial brackets | 2026 tables | Carried forward, or moved by your choice | Not published yet |
| British Columbia brackets and credit amounts | 2026 tables | 2026 tables, whatever you choose | Official: BC has paused indexation for 2027 to 2030 |
| Basic personal amounts and other credit amounts | 2026 amounts | Carried forward, or moved by your choice | Not published yet |
The CPP ceilings are out. The federal indexation factor, which sets the new brackets and basic amounts, is normally announced in the fall. Our page on 2026 vs 2027 tax numbers shows what is confirmed so far.
What does the assumption box do?
Pick “Keep the 2026 thresholds” to see the effect of the new EI and CPP rules alone. Pick “Raise thresholds” by 2% or 3% to see what happens if the federal and provincial brackets and basic personal amounts rise by about that much, which is closer to a normal year. The CPP ceilings stay at the official figures, and British Columbia stays at its 2026 amounts, whichever you pick. The 2026 figure is always shown next to it so you can see the difference.
What is not included?
Credits and deductions beyond the basic personal amount and the CPP and EI credits, benefits, bonuses and other income. For Quebec, QPP, QPIP, the Quebec EI rate and the Quebec tax tables stay at 2026 figures, and only the federal part is moved. For your current numbers use the take-home pay calculator for 2026, or see what changed in 2026.
Where do the figures come from?
The 2027 EI figures come from the OSFI actuarial report on the 2027 EI premium rate. The CPP ceilings come from the CRA’s table of RRSP, DPSP and TFSA limits and the YMPE, and the British Columbia pause comes from the province’s budget tax changes page. The 2026 tables come from the CRA payroll deductions tables. Frequently asked questions
Is the 2027 take-home pay figure final?
No. It is a preview. The EI figures and the CPP ceilings are official, but the 2027 federal brackets and basic amounts are not published yet, so they are carried forward or moved by the percentage you choose. British Columbia has paused indexation, so its brackets stay at 2026 amounts.
Why might I keep a little less in 2027 with no indexation?
Because the EI premium rate and ceiling rise for 2027, and the CPP ceilings rise too. If your pay is above the ceilings, you pay about $38 more EI over the year and up to about $137 more CPP.
When will the real 2027 numbers be out?
The CRA has already published the CPP ceilings. The indexed federal brackets and basic amount are normally announced in the fall, often in November. This page will be updated then.
Which calculator should I use for my 2026 pay?
Use the take-home pay calculator, which uses the 2026 rules that apply to this year.
