Updated Checked by the Tax-Services.ca editorial team How we check
The calculator picker on Tax-Services.ca helps you find the right one of our 118 free Canadian tax and money calculators. Choose what you want to work out, such as take-home pay, an RRSP contribution or a mortgage payment, and the picker lists the calculators that fit, each with a link to its own page.
1. What are you trying to work out?
Turn on JavaScript to use the picker, or see the full list of calculators.
What does the calculator picker do?
The picker turns a plain question into a short list of calculators. It does not ask for your income or any personal details. You press one topic, such as “The income tax I owe, or my refund”, and it shows the calculators for that topic. Press another topic to see a different list.
Which questions does it send you to?
The picker routes each topic to calculators on this site. These are the main routes.
- Take-home pay, a raise or a new job offer: the take-home pay calculator
- Income tax owing or a refund: the income tax calculator
- RRSP, TFSA, FHSA or retirement: the RRSP calculator and the TFSA calculator
- Sales tax on a purchase or a sale: the GST/HST calculator
- Buying a home: the mortgage payment calculator and the land transfer tax calculator
- Family benefits or job loss: the Canada Child Benefit calculator and the EI calculator
- Self-employment and side income: the self-employed tax calculator
The picker also covers deductions and credits, capital gains, dividends and rental income, pensions, selling a home or rental property, debt, a car and owner-run companies.
Prefer a list?
See all calculators by topic, or search the site from the header. If your question is broader than one calculator, the tax situation quiz and the benefits finder point to guides as well. For definitions, use the glossary.
Where does this information come from?
The picker only links to calculators on this site. Checked in October 2026. This is an independent information site: we provide no services, we do not represent the CRA or any organization, and we do not guarantee that anything here is accurate or current. We accept no liability for decisions based on it. Check the official source before you rely on it. See the full disclaimer.
Frequently asked questions
Which calculator shows my take-home pay?
Use the take-home pay calculator to see what lands in your account after income tax, CPP and EI. If you know the amount you want to keep and need the salary that produces it, use the net to gross pay calculator instead.
Which calculator shows how much income tax I owe or my refund?
The income tax calculator shows federal and provincial tax together for your income. The tax refund calculator estimates whether you will get money back or owe a balance. Both give estimates, and the CRA's notice of assessment settles the real figure.
Which calculators help me plan for buying a home?
Start with the mortgage payment calculator for the loan, then the land transfer tax calculator for the tax on buying, and the down payment and closing costs calculators for the cash you need up front. The picker lists them when you choose "Buying a home".
What if my situation is not in the picker?
Browse all 118 calculators by topic on the calculators page, which sorts them into 12 hubs. You can also take the tax situation quiz, which asks five short questions and lists guides and calculators that fit.
Does the picker ask for my income or personal details?
No. It only asks what you want to work out and then shows links. The calculators it points to run in your browser, and the site's privacy policy explains the basic visit statistics it does collect.
