Canada Child Benefit payment dates

Updated Checked by the Tax-Services.ca editorial team How we check

The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is paid monthly, usually on the 20th. When the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment comes earlier. The table below has the 2026 dates the CRA lists, from January 20 to December 11. The CRA had not listed any 2027 dates when we checked in October 2026.

Short answer: The Canada Child Benefit is usually paid on the 20th of the month. The next 2026 dates are November 20 and December 11.

What are the 2026 CCB payment dates?

Month Payment date
January January 20, 2026
February February 20, 2026
March March 20, 2026
April April 20, 2026
May May 20, 2026
June June 19, 2026

September September 18, 2026
October October 20, 2026
November November 20, 2026
December December 11, 2026

The CCB is recalculated every July. Payments up to June 2026 use your 2024 return, and payments from July 2026 use your 2025 return.

Why do some CCB payments land before the 20th?

The CCB moves earlier when the 20th is a weekend day or a holiday. In 2026 the 20th fell on a Saturday in June and on a Sunday in September, so those two payments came on June 19 and September 18. The December payment is on the 11th.

What about 2027?

The CRA had not published the 2027 dates when we checked. Payments usually land on the 20th again, with some months earlier because of weekends and holidays. Check the CRA page for the final list.

What if the payment is late or missing?

  • Check your payment status in your CRA account, which shows the next expected payment date and amount.
  • Check that your bank details, address and marital status are current in your CRA account.
  • Make sure both of you filed your tax returns, because the CCB needs them every year.
  • If you still cannot see why, wait 5 business days after the expected date before you contact the CRA.

Why do CCB payments stop or change?

The CRA’s page on keeping your payments lists the usual reasons. A tax return was not filed, by you or by your spouse or common-law partner. A CRA letter went unanswered. A change of address, bank account or marital status was not reported. Family income went too high, or a child turned 18. If you are still eligible, the CRA can restart the payments once it has the updated information, and the missed amounts are paid with your next scheduled payment.

How is the CCB paid, and how much will you get?

The CRA says direct deposit is the fastest and most secure way to get benefit payments, and email reminders go out about a week before each payment. The amount depends on your family income and the number and age of your children, and the CCB covers children under 18. Use the Canada Child Benefit calculator for an estimate. For the other quarterly payment, see the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit dates, and the guide to benefits and credits for the wider picture.

Where does this information come from?

The dates come from the Canada Revenue Agency benefit payment dates page. The rules on late and stopped payments come from the CRA pages CCB payment dates and keep getting your payments. Frequently asked questions

What day is the Canada Child Benefit paid each month?

The CCB is usually paid on the 20th of the month. When the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday, the CRA pays earlier. In 2026 the early dates are June 19, September 18 and December 11. Check the CRA payment dates page for the exact list.

What should I do if my CCB payment is missing?

Check your payment status in your CRA account, confirm your address, bank details and family status are current, and look at the reasons payments stop. If it is still unexplained, wait 5 business days after the expected payment date before contacting the CRA.

Why did my Canada Child Benefit payments stop?

The CRA lists reasons such as an unfiled tax return (yours or your partner's), an unanswered CRA letter, an unreported change of address, bank account or marital status, income that is too high, or a child turning 18. If you are still eligible, missed amounts are paid with your next scheduled payment.

Do I have to file a tax return to keep getting the CCB?

Yes. The CRA says you must file a return every year to keep receiving the CCB, even with no income, and your spouse or common-law partner must file too. The deadline is April 30. Late filing can pause payments, and missed amounts are paid once the CRA assesses the return.
