# Cookies and local storage on this site

## What do we store, and why?

| Calculator inputs (ts_in_…) | Local storage, necessary | Remembers the numbers you typed in a calculator on this device, so they are there next time |
| Province (ts_prov) | Local storage, necessary | Remembers the province you picked |
| Saved calculations (ts_saved) | Local storage, necessary | Holds the calculations you chose to save |
| My tax year situation (ts_profile) | Local storage, necessary | Remembers which situation you picked on the dates page |
| Checklist ticks (ts_chk_…) | Local storage, necessary | Remembers which boxes you ticked on a checklist |
| Light or dark choice | Local storage, necessary | Remembers your colour scheme |
| Analytics (Google Analytics and Ahrefs Analytics) | Cookies, only if you accept analytics in the banner | Counts visits and the pages people use, so we can improve the site |
| Advertising (Google AdSense) | Cookies set by Google, not controlled by the banner | Shows and measures ads. Google may use cookies for this, and for personalized ads where the law allows |

Anything stored as local storage stays on your device. We do not receive it.

## How do you change your choice?

Use the cookie icon at the bottom of the page to reopen the banner and change your analytics choice. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, which resets everything above.

## What if you say no?

The site and the calculators work the same way. Without analytics we cannot count your visit, and ads, if shown, are not personalized by cookies.
